Job Details

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the BLF clean air team to carry out policy research and analysis.

One in five people in the UK are affected by lung disease and the British Lung Foundation (BLF) is there for every one of them. The BLF is the only UK charity for those affected by all lung and respiratory diseases – from mild asthma to lung cancer. We provide support, fund vital research, and campaign for better prevention, treatment and care.

1 in 5 of us have been diagnosed with a lung condition. Our country’s polluted air makes life harder for them and puts all of our health at risk.

Air pollution has risen up the political agenda in recent years, but there is much work to be done to turn words into concrete action by local and national government. To help us continue to drive positive changes in policy at all levels we are looking for a new team member to join us for an initial 12 month fixed-term contract to support our policy and public affairs work on this topic in 2020.

You’ll be joining an influential policy team at an exciting time. Working alongside the team and other BLF colleagues you’ll be working to clean up the air we all breathe.

We are looking for someone who can support the BLF clean air team to carry out policy research and analysis, including background research to help ensure our policy work is based on robust research, patient experience, clear analysis and strong arguments.

You should be well organised, with experience organising successful events and delivering tasks and projects to deadline with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Lastly, you will take a key role in our preparations for the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, so you should be enthusiastic about working with colleagues from across the organisation to deliver this exciting project. If this sounds like you and you’re interested working on this fast paced, dynamic policy area, we’d love to hear from you.

As well as a competitive salary you can enjoy a range of competitive benefits including our cycle-to-work scheme, interest-free annual season travelcard loan, 30 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays), pension scheme and much more.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to an organisation committed to supporting everyone whose lives are changed by lung disease.
