Senior Policy Officer

Join our team and contribute to our highly successful policy influencing programme to make a real difference to the lives of LGBT people by protecting and extending the rights of the community.

As part of our Policy team, you will develop expert knowledge in specific policy areas relevant to LGBT equality (which could include, for example, hate crime and human rights legislation), and lead our influencing work on these. You will build and maintain our relationships with Parliamentarians, and work with other teams across Stonewall, including our Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales teams, to help achieve our strategic policy objectives.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skillset, get involved in making real policy changes and work with a range of influencers.

The successful candidate will have considerable experience of working in a policy and/or Parliamentary environment. You will have outstanding analytical and writing speeches. excellent interpersonal skill in order to engage and influence a variety of audiences and key stakeholders.

Policy Officer (Fixed Term)

You'll be responsible for understanding the many different forms of inequality that affect the lives of LGBT people, and working across the team to support the delivery of our Policy and Parliamentary strategy. You’ll be responsible for keeping the Policy team and senior Stonewall staff briefed with up-to-date information on unfolding political developments, and drafting correspondence to Parliamentarians and Government.

This fixed-term six-month role provides an excellent opportunity for you to not only make an impact on the lives of LGBT people, but also to develop your skillset by getting involved in making real policy changes and working with a broad range of influencers.

You must have strong analytical skills and writing abilities with experience interpreting research findings and statistics and presenting these clearly. You’ll have excellent interpersonal skills to engage and influence a variety of audiences and key stakeholders.
