Job Details

The Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) is the trade association for the UK garden industry, an industry which is currently worth more than £8 billion per annum. Founded in 1899, the HTA is dedicated to helping develop business for its member companies. Members include garden centres, multiple retailers, growers, wholesalers, landscapers, manufacturers and service providers.

Permanent role / 35 hours per week / Monday – Friday

This exciting role offers a great opportunity for the right person looking to broaden their knowledge of the national political landscape in relation to the horticultural industry.

At the HTA we support our membership through providing an extensive programme of conferences, workshops, training courses, trade shows and other horticulture industry events. We have an excellent reputation and provide our members with the opportunity to learn, be creative and network with other people within the Horticultural industry.

The changing political and regulatory landscape has a huge impact on HTA members and policy work is a key role which the HTA provides. The role is extremely varied, supporting the Policy Manager to develop and deliver HTA policy agenda.

This role will be supporting the Policy Manager by providing knowledge and advice in any matters related to compliance, regulation and policy changes, and presenting policy updates to HTA members and stake holders.

The right candidate for this role will ideally have experience in policy or public affairs, having worked in Parliament, a trade association, Government, campaign organisation, PR/public affairs agency or similar. Excellent critical thinking ability, and good research, analytical and drafting skills are essential to be successful in this role, along with the ability to digest complex information into key salient points.
