The organisation
Our client, a leading global pharmaceutical company is looking to expand their Public Affairs team through the recruitment of a Public Affairs and Advocacy Assistant. Covering oncology, immunology and rare diseases amongst other therapy areas, their aim is to improve patients lives around the world through research and development.
The opportunity
As part of the Public Affairs and Advocacy team, the Public Affairs and Advocacy Assistant will report to the Director of Public Affairs and will support on the development of an effective stakeholder engagement plan. Furthermore, this role will see the successful candidate monitor political output, identifying opportunities to communicate the organisations key business aims. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to accelerate their public affairs career as this role will provide an unprecedented amount of exposure, and experience working with senior stakeholders internally across a range of high-profile issues. The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract based in the home counties.
Main Responsibilities
- Map key stakeholders including Ministers, Civil Servants, Think Tanks and patient groups
- Monitor political intelligence and media output and asses its impact on the sector
- Work collaboratively with the wider Public Affairs and Advocacy team to provide support where necessary
- Provide relevant contributions to a weekly newsletter targeting key stakeholder groups
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to raise the profile of the Public Affairs and Advocacy team internally
Key skills and experience
- Excellent written and verbal communications
- Prior experience within a public affairs environment is desirable, within a pharmaceutical body, patient association or consultancy is advantageous
- Knowledge and understanding of the parliament and parliamentary process
