techUK is looking for a dynamic and committed policy professional to join its policy team and drive its work on economic policy.

Digital innovation is driving profound change and economic policy needs to keep pace. This new role provides an opportunity to help shape techUK’s economic policy platform at a time when digital technology and innovation is becoming ever more important. From questions about the future of tax policy to the search for productivity growth this role would suit someone with an academic background in economics who is interested in developing practical policy proposals to ensure that the UK remains one of the world’s leading digital economies.

The role will focus on policy initiatives that can strengthen the UK’s digital economy as well as addressing how wider economic policies need to adapt to the realities of an ever more digital world. The role requires the ability both to analyse issues in depth and develop compelling thought leadership.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the voice of the UK tech sector, working with
some of the most innovative and leading tech companies that play a vital role in the UK economy.

We are looking for a self-motivated and energetic individual who is comfortable working under pressure with competing demands in a fast-paced working environment. The role would suit a confident communicator with a sharp eye for detail, looking to take their next steps in policy, advocacy and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead techUK’s economic policy work programme, including researching policy issues and drafting papers and consultation responses for government, Parliamentary committees and others.
  • Managing and delivering internal and external events; the smooth running of meetings; and managing and implementing stakeholder engagement activities; acting as point of contact for techUK members.
  • Working with colleagues across techUK to coordinate how economic policy impacts on different areas of the techUK programme.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders across Whitehall and providing a key point of contact with HM Treasury and BEIS.
