Job Title: Executive Assistant & Committee Services Officer
Working For: City of London Corporation
Join the City of Promoters and Influencers
As well as providing high-quality services to local residents and businesses, the City of London Corporation promotes the City as the world’s leading international financial and business centre. Our Policy and Resources Committee is at the heart of this role. They direct the City Corporation’s economic development initiatives and also oversee governance, strategic priorities, policy and resources, and security and emergency planning arrangements.
This role puts you at the heart of our organisation, providing PA support services to two senior elected members. You will work closely with the City Corporation’s Chair of Policy and Resources (the political leader of the organisation) and the Chief Commoner (similar to Chief Whip in Parliament) managing their diaries, and ensuring that they are fully prepared for City Corporation activities. This is a wide-ranging role ensuring that everything – from high-level briefings to refreshments for meetings – runs smoothly. You can also expect to draft correspondence, undertake research, prepare reports and take minutes at meetings. Committee and clerking support for the wider Committee Team within the Town Clerk’s Department is part of your brief.
Highly organised and calm under pressure, you’ll have experience of supporting a high-profile individual such as a politician or senior business representative. You’ll thrive in fast-paced environments where you’re expected to use your initiative and work to tight deadlines. Effective communication – both in person and in writing – is critical, as is considerable diplomacy. Proficient in MS Office packages, you’ll have a good understanding of the Freedom of Information Act and the Data Protection Act.
The City of London is committed to Equal Opportunities and welcomes application from all sections of the community
