Job Details

Department: News, Campaigns and Public Affairs
Hours per week: 36.25

Citizens Advice offers confidential advice online, over the phone, and in person, for free. Through our national network of charities, we give people the knowledge and the confidence they need to find their way forward – whoever they are, and whatever their problem.

We’re looking for an Assistant to join our busy, high performing Campaigns and Public Affairs team. Sitting at the heart of the organisation, the team works to achieve meaningful policy change, deliver public awareness campaigns, and help secure our position as the leading provider of advice in England and Wales. This role will support the team across a variety of campaigns. For example, at the moment we’re aiming to get a fairer deal for consumers in essential markets like energy and broadband, ensure the benefits system delivers for those who need it, and make sure people struggling with debt are treated fairly. We also run consumer education campaigns, raising awareness of issues like online scams and how to save money on energy bills.

This is a new role, and the ideal candidate will have experience of working or volunteering on public affairs or campaign projects, be able to deliver a range of communications to suit different audiences and have the ability to work on several projects simultaneously. The candidate doesn't need a degree to apply; we're looking for someone with an interest in politics, and most importantly, able to demonstrate a commitment to the values of Citizens Advice.

If you'd like to have an informal chat about how your experience could meet the essential criteria, please do get in touch.

Citizens Advice values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. We encourage and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates as BAME and disabled people are currently under-represented throughout Citizens Advice.

We have made a positive commitment to employing disabled people and guarantee to interview all disabled candidates who meet the minimum essential criteria for the role as set out in role profiles.

Closing Date: 24 November 2019
