If you’re interested in global health and want to use your skills to build a network of partnerships with governments around the world, then this could be the role for you. You will lead Wellcome’s engagement programme with governments, creating a strong profile and increased understanding of Wellcome’s contribution to science and health amongst key development donors.

The Global Policy and Advocacy Team work with a wide range of partners including governments, multilateral agencies, international research funders, charities, civil society and the private sector in order to maximise our impact.

This role will concentrate on maximising Wellcome’s influence in science and health policy development around the world (especially in health, development and finance ministries), and will lead the planning for engagement with international political and diplomatic forums, such as G20, UNGA and the African Union.

To be successful in this role you will have significant experience creating and overseeing the delivery of a coordinated approach to relationship management that supports consistent and coherent interactions between multiple teams at Wellcome and governments. You will have:

Experience of government relations work internationally
Experience of delivering advice to decision makers in complex political environments.
Experience of implementing relationship management approaches across matrix organisations
Experience of navigating political processes in a variety of international settings
Well-developed and demonstrable strategic planning skills
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills - internally and externally
Ability to deliver presentations to senior-level audiences
Able to work with people at senior levels autonomously but with a strong collaborative and team ethic
