A part time, 3 day-a-week Research Assistant is required for the public health charity Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) for initially a minimum of 6 months.

Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) is a public health charity that works to eliminate the harm caused by tobacco. Smoking is the largest preventable cause of death and disease in the UK and accounts for half the difference in life expectancy between the richest and poorest in society.

The Research Assistant will support a survey of Local Authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups to measure the level of support they provide for pregnant women to quit smoking. This survey is part of an ongoing study being conducted by researchers at the University of Nottingham’s Smoking in Pregnancy Research Group. The Research Assistant will also be involved in production and updating of ASH’s information resources and providing additional support to the ASH team as required.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A strong academic record and relevant university degree
  • An interest in health policy
  • Evidence of research skills and an understanding of how to apply them
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong administrative and IT skills
