Freedom United is the world’s largest anti-slavery organisation which seeks to harness the power of its millions of supporters to influence social, business and political change and build an even stronger movement. Freedom United has a small team across the US and UK, and mobilises its supporters with close partnerships to build strong and effective online global campaigns, increase knowledge and awareness of modern slavery and strengthen the capacity of anti-slavery organisations.

The Advocacy Assistant reports to the Senior Advocacy Officer and will provide assistance to the whole team in the implementation of global campaigns on a broad range of modern slavery issues.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a team focused on using the latest in digital campaigning to build a strong basis of committed activists while building knowledge and contacts in the anti-slavery field through working with partners around the world.

Location: remote, with weekly in-person meetings in central London. Time : Full-time to start asap

Responsibilities:

Campaign actions: Assisting the advocacy team in researching and planning to launch and implement cutting edge, successful campaigns.

Communications: Assist in drafting and publishing news stories and the dissemination of our weekly News Digest.

Assist with the creation and publishing of social media content relating to campaigns and relevant news stories.

Digital campaign support: Use digital tools to build campaign materials and effectively communicate with our online community and track the progress of campaigns.

Supporter engagement: Communicate with Freedom United supporters through our online platforms.

Support the team in following internal processes.

Desired Skills and Expertise:
• 1-3 years’ work experience (including internships and volunteering)
• Demonstrated teamwork skills
• Self-motivated and works well independently under own initiative
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Confident with digital systems and willing to learn
• A flexible, proactive, can do approach
• Values that align with Freedom United’s mission
• An interest in anti-trafficking, forced labour and child rights
• Pursuing or obtained Graduate degree in relevant field
