Job Details

Kate Osamor MP is looking for a Parliamentary Researcher to work in her office, duties include planning and managing a busy diary, writing parliamentary briefings, stakeholder relationships and assisting with constituency responsibilities.

Duties
• Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries
• Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure Member is accurately informed on key issues
• Develop and maintain current knowledge of bills, Early Day Motion, legislation, hansard, debates etc
• Diary Management
• Ensure the Member is fully briefed on potential questions and motions to be put to the house.
• Drafting blogs and updates for Kate’s website and social media.
• Accompanying Kate to meetings and following up on agreed actions as appropriate.
• Give advice on policy issues
• Monitor media coverage and brief the Member on relevant issues
• Progress casework as required
• Provide generalist admin support
• Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries
•Undertake research, usually from readily available sources, on straightforward subjects

• Strong organisational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong political sensitivity and ability to use initiative when appropriate
• Ability to think analytically
• Good relationship builder who can build and retain relationships with wide range of people
• Excellent administrative skills
• Knowledge and experience of campaigning
• Flexibility
• Understanding of constituency relationship
• Understanding of parliamentary procedure
