Antony Higginbotham, MP for Burnley, is looking to appoint a hard-working, enthusiastic and experienced Office Manager and Caseworker based in the constituency.

Office Manager
Main duties include, but are not limited to:

Office Management

  • Ensure a range of efficient secretarial and administrative support.
  • Ensure the office is fully equipped.
  • Liaise with the Westminster office to manage diaries and casework.
  • Liaise with constituents and local groups on behalf of the Member as necessary.
  • Manage the office team, ensuring accurate records are kept and notifying IPSA of contractual changes as required.
  • Overall responsibility for management of the office budget, keeping the Member informed of all relevant financial matters.
  • Monitor local media and brief the Member accordingly.
  • Manage the Member’s publicity in the constituency through social media and other forms, including the advertising of surgeries.
  • Ensure records are kept, and information managed, in line with data protection requirements.
  • Work with the Member to establish the constituency office, including liaising with letting agents, solicitors and contractors if needed.
Casework
  • Attend surgeries, meetings and tribunals as appropriate.
  • Ensure all casework is logged, monitor progress and ensure all identified actions taken.
  • Gather relevant information to resolve or progress cases.
  • Liaise with government agencies, voluntary sector and others to resolve constituency matters.
  • Keep the Member updated on local matters as needed.
  • Take initial action on queries from members of the public, including responding on behalf of the Member as appropriate.

Caseworker
Main duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Attend surgeries, meetings and tribunals as appropriate.
  • Develop knowledge in specialist areas.
  • Ensure all casework is logged, monitor progress and ensure all identified actions taken.
  • Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially and in line with Data Protection requirements.
  • Manage and progress a portfolio of casework appropriately.
  • Liaise with government agencies, voluntary sector and others to resolve constituency matters.
  • Keep the Member updated on local matters as needed.
  • Take initial action on queries from members of the public.
  • Manage constituency projects.
  • Provide briefings to the MP.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
