Job Details

We are looking to recruit a Head of News Planning to join an established team to develop and drive JRF’s external profile in the media.

Millions of people are locked in poverty in the UK. We don’t believe that’s right. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to solve it. JRF’s new strategy is to work alongside others to build public and political will for change and develop credible solutions.

This role will be instrumental in delivering a pipeline of high impact media stories and coverage for JRF commentary in line with our strategic goals, promoting our reputation as the leading independent authority on poverty in the UK.

Highly collaborative, you will have experience of working in a politically sensitive environment, ideally possessing a qualification in journalism or a communication-related area. Experience of high-profile national media, as a senior journalist or leading a media relations team is essential. You will have advanced skills in building and sustaining high value internal and external relationships.

Your communication skills will be exemplary as will your ability to make sound judgements drawing on solid evidence and involving others.

In support of our approach to flexible working we are happy to receive applications from those seeking full time employment, as well as those who may want to share the role on a part time basis.

When making your application, please state whether you want to be considered for either full or part time work and, if part time, the number of hours per week you would be looking for.

Our commitment to diversity

We are committed to creating opportunities for under-represented groups. BAME groups are under-represented in the organisation and are positively encouraged to apply. We shall apply Section 159 of the Equalities Act 2010 in the recruitment process.

At JRF/JRHT we believe in being inclusive and giving everyone an equal chance to succeed. Applications are welcome from all regardless of age, gender identity, disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, race, sexual orientation, transgender status or social economic background. We positively encourage applications from those with experience of living in poverty.
