Job Details
The three posts below are full time positions. Beth Winter MP is looking to appoint a committed and experienced Officer Manager, Caseworker and Communications Officer based in the constituency. Applicants should have sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party, ability to speak or learn Welsh, be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team with good communication and interpersonal skills.
Office Manager
Main duties include but are not limited to:
• Managing the budget, keeping the Member informed of financial matters
• Manage the office team ensuring accurate records are kept and notifying IPSA of contractual changes as required
• Provide efficient secretarial and administrative support
• Ensure the office is fully equipped
• Manage the Member’s diary commitments, delegating tasks to others as appropriate
• Liaise with Westminster, groups within the constituency and the general public on the Member's behalf
• Ensure records are kept and information managed in line with Data Protection requirements
Caseworker
Main duties include but are not limited to:
• Dealing with queries from members of the public
• Gathering information to assist with resolving cases
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
• Retain records and information confidentially and in line with Data Protection Act
• Provide responses to constituents
• Analyse patterns of enquiries and produce reports, keeping the Member informed
• Attend surgeries and other meetings as appropriate
• Liaise with other agencies and voluntary sector to resolve constituency matters as appropriate
Communications Officer
Main duties include but are not limited to:
• Establishing a social media presence in the constituency
• Follow up on social media queries and comments
• Monitor media coverage, liaise with media, prepare press releases as appropriate
• Research local, all Wales or national issues to support the MP’s work
• Undertake community engagement to support the Member's work within the constituency
• Manage the MP's website content
• Develop links with local community and voluntary groups and statutory agencies to enhance lines of communication with the Member's office
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
