Maria Miller, Member of Parliament for Basingstoke, is looking for a committed full-time Parliamentary Researcher with some experience, to provide hands-on support in a busy Westminster team.
Main responsibilities include:
- Undertaking desk research on a wide range of local, regional or national issues to support Maria’s parliamentary work
- Writing detailed reports / briefings based on findings of research
- Preparing briefing notes ahead of meetings and media appearances, when required
- Monitoring media coverage, liaising with local/ national media and preparing press releases
- Managing website content
- Engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
- Responding to routine correspondence and enquires
- Undertaking other ad hoc projects and general administrative duties as necessary
- Handling sensitive personal data responsibly
Candidates should have the following skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong research skills
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Keen interest in politics and current affairs
- Highly organised, able to prioritise and manage a busy workload
