The Embassy of Japan seeks a highly qualified person who can perform as a Personal Assistant to the Ambassador of Japan and as a part of the Protocol Section.

Duties include:

  • Arranging appointments, lunches, dinners and events for the Ambassador
  • General administrative duties such as handling and drafting correspondence, managing the Ambassador’s schedule, and maintaining contact databases
  • Supporting ad hoc events hosted at the Embassy
  • Providing support to diplomats on protocol issues

Applicants should have competence in secretarial and protocol work. This role would suit someone with protocol/political/business knowledge.

The candidate should possess the English language as a mother tongue or equivalent, both spoken and written, and good IT skills including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS Powerpoint.

A command of Japanese language is not necessary but would be appreciated. Also, it is preferable that the applicant has knowledge of British culture, customs and etiquette.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 930am-600pm (Lunch hour: 12:45pm-1:45pm) with possibility of overtime work

We are looking for the candidate to start from end of February. A candidate may be appointed before the close of applications.
