Working as a Caseworker in the constituency office of James Grundy MP, you will be the first point of contact for members of the public. You will be required to work within a small team, managing a varied caseload and forming good working relationships with local government representatives and other stakeholders in order to meet the needs of constituents.

You will need to be a team player, organised, demonstrate initiative and attention to detail, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to deal with problems sensitively. IT skills are essential, although training on casework software will be provided.

The role includes:
• Drafting of letters and correspondence providing information, advice and support to constituents on a broad range of issues
• Dealing with Government agencies, local councils and other organisations
• Dealing with telephone enquiries
• Assisting with the management of James Grundy’s social media pages
• Accompanying James Grundy at constituency events
• Other administrative duties as required

The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
• Strong written and communication skills, good telephone manner
• Highly organised with the ability to manage and prioritise own caseload
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Quick and efficient work style
• Team player with a flexible approach; enthusiastic and reliable
• Full driving license with with your own mode of transport
• Be sympathetic to the aims of the Conservative Party.

Previous experience working for an MP or dealing with casework is helpful but not required.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
