Job Details

We struggled a bit to decide on a job title for this role. We need someone with the sort of skills a good PA would have, but so much more besides. We want someone with enthusiasm, passion and a real desire to make a difference. Have we piqued your interest? Keep reading…

In the local election in May last year the Liberal Democrats took control of the Council. They have set out an ambitious agenda for improving Chelmsford and are looking for someone to help them achieve this. Whilst not a political role, this Cabinet coordination position will work closely with the political team to co-ordinate activities, to set priorities, to communicate with our communities, to create structure to processes and to increase efficiency. In short, the postholder will support the Cabinet Members to be creative, productive and allow them to focus on the things that will make Chelmsford an even better place to live and visit.

To do this effectively you will be very organised and structured, will have some experience of modern digital technology, will have a passion for helping communities thrive and you will be able to demonstrate this through your work experience. You do not need to have worked in local government before, but you will need to understand what we do and be able to demonstrate a real interest in the issues that we face on behalf of our communities.

So, if this sounds like it might be you then have a look at the attached job pack and submit an application. And if you can think of a better job title then please let us know!

Chelmsford City Council is committed to safeguarding vulnerable groups and expects all employees to share this commitment and have a range of policies and procedures in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practices across our services. The Council's Safer Recruitment process contains pre-employment vetting which includes safeguarding training, obtaining references and ensuring compliance with Disclosure and Barring Service process.

Closing Date: 16 February 2020

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews are scheduled for W/C 24th February, please note this date is only indicative at this stage and could be subject to change. Those successful at the first stage of interviews will have the opportunity to meet senior Councillors at the second stage of the recruitment process.
