Navigate Politics provides political monitoring services to in-house government affairs teams through daily briefings, breaking news alerts and highly tailored debate and committee summaries.

We provide political monitoring services to some of the biggest companies in the UK who trust us to deliver high quality briefings, at times to suit them, through our advanced, human-led service.

Responsibilities
We’re looking for additional freelancers to watch and provide accurate and succinct summaries of selected Parliamentary debates and Select Committees taking place at the Houses of Parliament in Westminster and devolved parliaments in Cardiff Bay, Holyrood and Stormont, as required.

The number of debates/committee sessions – up to a maximum of three per week per Researcher (approximately 8-12 hours) – will vary depending on the relevant parliamentary business taking place and the time of year when the Parliaments are sitting.

Requirements
The role is a fantastic opportunity for non-rigid, part-time work for post graduate students who want to gain experience working in politics, or those who may be taking a break in their career or from full-time work.

• Degree level or higher – The role is likely to suit graduates in subjects such as Politics, English or History
• Excellent analytical skills – The Researcher would be required to summarise complex and challenging sessions quickly and effectively so an attention to detail and ability to select and record key pieces of information are required
• Understanding of parliament – The role requires a strong interest in politics and a basic understanding of UK parliamentary procedure
• Reliability and time-management – The Researcher would be expected to be able to demonstrate their commitment and time management skills through past work or related experience
• Flexibility – The role will require flexibility in working-hours, determined by the timings of select committees and debates and the number of hours the Researcher can reasonably take on
• Excellent IT skills – Successful candidates will be able to touch-type and rapidly create, edit and format documents in Microsoft Word

As a freelance role, your own equipment, including a computer, Microsoft Word and a good internet connection, is required.
