Job Description:
You will develop the public affairs and external policy function within a leading charity. You will advise senior managers on relevant policy developments and devise and implement a public affairs/policy strategy for our client.

Key Responsibilities:
• monitor relevant legislative changes and key media issues
• provide a scanning and monitoring service
• influence relevant external policy development to further the aims of the charity and the people it supports
• draft responses to Government consultations and legislative change
• nurture existing relationships and develop new national strategic
relationships where appropriate with key stakeholders and decision
makers e.g.: DoH & SC, NHS England, Public Health England, LGAs,
health and social care professional bodies and organisations
• attend relevant forums / partnership groups to gather intelligence, raise
the profile of our client
• act as a media spokesperson for our client

Essential skills:
• Proven experience of developing, managing and evaluating a public affairs/policy
function
• Proven experience of devising public affairs/policy strategy and confidently
presenting this to senior stakeholders
• A good understanding of the workings of government and wider political process
• A good understanding of health and social care in England and policy
development
• Proven experience of developing effective professional relationships with key
external organisations, professional bodies and a range of internal stakeholders
• Proven project management and organisation skills
• Ability to understand and express complex ideas and issues in a clear and
accessible way to a range of different audiences
• Strong drafting and writing skills and experience of creating a range of written
materials from policy statements, inquiry and consultation documents and
presentations
