The Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) is one of the world’s leading research think-tanks in the fields of defence and security. The Military Sciences team seeks to inform, influence and impact policy and doctrine based on evidenced research on military matters related to war and warfare. The Community Manager will support the growing international military membership and build the community group, with a planned start date of 01 April 2020.

About the Position
The Community Manager role is a new post that will provide bespoke and tailored content to RUSI’s military community around the world. They will serve to amplify the Military Sciences research, focusing on extending the reach and penetration into military audiences. They will work closely with RUSI’s communications staff and membership team to grow and serve the community through outreach and engagement, especially outside London and European capitals. The role involves being at the heart of thought-leadership, examining and challenging the orthodoxy, informing and educating the community, and delivering RUSI’s research to the right people in a timely and accessible manner.

The successful candidate will take a leading role in developing an engagement programme, managing a programme of talks, workshops, conferences, seminars, debates, podcasts and other events on military issues. They will have responsibility for translating latent interest in the military audience into long term membership of the Institute.

They will play a leading role in communicating and marketing the work of the Military Sciences future research programme. All RUSI staff are encouraged to write for its publications, should they so wish, and as such the role also comes with the opportunity to develop a portfolio of written output.
