About the Role

Here at the CIOB, we are now looking for a Public Affairs Officer to undertake research, analysis and support the development of the Institutes policy positions.

Reporting to our Policy & Public Affairs Manager, you will ensure that the Institute is well positioned within the UK Government, as well as the devolved administrations and wider policy community, helping to influence the regulation of construction. Working with all levels of the organisation, membership and external stakeholders including Government, industry and other professional bodies, you will manage the CIOB’s policy profile and drive its reputation and engagement opportunities.

What we’re looking for…

So, if you are qualified to Degree level or equivalent and have experience in a policy or public affairs role that has consistently demanded thought leadership, writing, research, presentation and communication skills, then we would be delighted to hear from you! You’ll need to be IT literate in all Microsoft Office packages and be familiar with search engines, social media, CMS and HTML.

Enthusiastic and flexible with strong interpersonal skills, you will have knowledge of UK Government processes, along with the ability to make an assess recommendations for policy development. We’d like you to understand the public interest position of a professional body and how this is distinct from traditional policy making.

Membership of a relevant professional body would be a distinct advantage but is by no means essential.
