About the role

Come and join the NMC and help us build a stronger, leading voice, enabling better, safer care for people in the UK. We’re hiring a Public Affairs Manager (maternity cover) to join our External Affairs team and lead our engagement with political stakeholders. The role is responsible for managing a small team and delivering a co-ordinated public affairs programme across the UK, to:

• Build trust in professional regulation among political stakeholders
• Increase awareness and understanding amongst political stakeholders of the work we do and our corporate priorities
• Strengthen collaboration with our political stakeholders
The role will report into the Assistant Director of Stakeholder Engagement.

Skills and experience required
You will have extensive experience of working in a public affairs role in one or more UK country. You will have the ability to horizon scan, interpret political motivations and influence national policy. You will have experience of leading project groups and line managing a high performing team. You will also have experience of building good relationships with senior colleagues.
