Job Details

• Attend surgeries and other meetings as appropriate and deal with standard queries from members of the public and draft responses to constituents.
• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
• Prepare media briefings.
• Pro-active and re-active communications with all media.
• Publicise the Member’s parliamentary duties on social media.
• Establish a social media presence in the constituency and publicise surgeries etc.
• Follow up on social media queries and comments.
• Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant guidelines/legislation as appropriate in dealing with casework.

• Provide administrative support for the office.

Essential Skills

• Previous casework experience and knowledge of immigration, housing and welfare casework is desirable.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with a positive and flexible approach.
• Excellent IT skills including ability to use a casework tracking system (the office uses Caseworker)
• Ability to draft letters and emails to a high professional standard.
• Motivated to work independently as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
• Good office administration skills, telephone manner and the ability to demonstrate patience and empathy.

Desirable Skills

• Experience of casework
• Legal or advice experience
• Full clean UK Driving Licence, desirable but not required
