Working For: Embassy of Israel

Location: London

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Length of Contract:

Job Details

The Embassy of Israel’s Civil Society Affairs Department is seeking a talented policy and public affairs professional to help them build relationships between civil society organisations in the UK and Israel. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for someone with tangible experience of working with local government, trade unions and/or third sector organisations to make a positive and lasting contribution to the Israel-UK partnership.

About the role:

Assisting our head of Civil Society Affairs, you will help identify new partners in civil society, plan events, and support delegations to and from Israel. You will provide insight on developments affecting local authorities, trade unions and third sector organisations, which may entail monitoring regional and social media, devising strategies to enhance Israel-UK relations in your portfolio area, and authoring English-language correspondence. Working against time constraints, you will also help coordinate the department’s work programme, scheduling meetings, managing contact databases, and assisting with other administrative work.

About you:

You will have tangible policy and public affairs experience, with in-depth knowledge of the workings of either local government, trade unions and/or third sector organisations. With excellent English language written and verbal communication skills, you will be comfortable both producing time-sensitive analysis and reports, and representing the Embassy at external events. You will also be a quick learner, able to develop into a go-to voice of authority on your portfolio area. It is likely that you will have a relevant degree (such as law, politics, or public policy). Though you will not need to speak Hebrew, you must be comfortable working across cultures.

Conditions:

  • Job type: Full-time, permanent
  • Holiday entitlement: 22 days’ annual leave & extended holiday allowances
  • Citizenship: Eligibility to live and work full time in the UK (visas must be valid for at least 2 years)

Closing Date: 23 March 2020
