Job Details

Location: London Holborn

Contract: Permanent

The National Housing Federion is the trade body for housing associations in England. Our members own over 99% of housing association homes in England, providing 2.7m homes to around six million people. We are the voice of affordable housing in England, and believe that everyone should have the home they need at a price they can afford. We work at the forefront of the political debate not only on housing but on a wide range of other policy issues including welfare, homelessness and devolution. Our work affects the lives of millions of people across the country.

Effective lobbying is key to everything we do. We have built close working relationships at the most senior levels of politics and have established ourselves as the ‘go-to’ body on housing issues for Ministers and Shadow Ministers. We have proven our ability to shape policy decisions. Last year, we secured an additional £2bn for new social and affordable homes, with an announcement from the Prime Minister at our annual Summit. We have succeeded in placing the future funding of supported housing on a stable footing, and campaigned successfully to end no-DSS policies.

We need you to play a crucial role in this work, leading on public affairs strategies to influence the main political parties on the topics that matter the most to our members. You will work in a focussed and driven team to help ensure housing maintains its political saliency, and housing associations are positioned as the solution to the country’s housing crisis.

We don't need you to be a housing expert. But you will understand how the British political system works, have a good grasp of parliamentary procedure, and have experience of delivering public affairs strategies that have real impact. You will be committed to working collaboratively; have excellent organisational skills; demonstrate exceptional written and oral communication; be able to build strong relationships internally and externally; and feel confident communicating your ideas appropriately at all levels of the organisations that we engage with.
