Job Details

We are expanding our Policy and Public Affairs capabilities as part of our Corporate Plan for growth over the coming years. The expansion of this team recognises the need for the CIOB to seize opportunities for improving awareness of the impact of the built environment on society, particularly amongst policy makers and wider stakeholders.

You will join a friendly, busy and fast-moving Policy and Public Affairs team to improve awareness of the CIOB in the Midlands and North, and develop opportunities for engagement with policy makers and mayoralties. In these two home based roles (based in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Leicester, Manchester, Liverpool or Leeds) which are fixed-term for 12months you will:

Develop and implement a stakeholder engagement programme for policy makers and external stakeholders to inform, influence and shape opinion in the region
Monitor policy developments and identify opportunities for influencing in the region
Provide policy advice and support at a regional level
Assist in the planning and organising of political engagement and regional events
Oversee social media presence and draft editorial content
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency and coherence in our messages to decision makers and CIOB members

You will bring experience in a policy or public affairs role, where you have consistently demonstrated thought-leadership, writing, research, presentation and communication skills. Enthusiastic and flexible, you will have knowledge of UK government processes; the ability to assess and make recommendations for policy development; and the ability to understand the public interest position of a professional body and how this is distinct from traditional policy making.

Closing Date: 16 April 2020
