Job Details

We are recruiting for a Global Policy & Advocacy Officer to join our team, supporting and strengthening Wellcome’s impact in Policy & Advocacy.

The Global Policy & Advocacy Team works on a range of issues around the world, delivering targeted interventions that change the way we think and act in health and research, backed by a robust evidence base.

We now have an opportunity for an ambitious and pro-active individual to join our Global Policy & Advocacy team, supporting and strengthening Wellcome’s impact.

It is an exciting time to be joining Policy at Wellcome – we’re growing in size and ambition, and we’re working to influence how important issues are handled in the UK, Europe and around the world, including health research, health product development and responses to new health threats.

In the role of Global Policy & Advocacy Officer you will have the opportunity to lead small projects (and strands of wider projects) to deliver Wellcome’s policy priorities, such as: shaping the global health community’s preparedness and response to epidemics, such as Ebola, Zika and the current COVID-19 outbreak; and, developing policy and advocating for equitable access to medicines, so that people in low-resource settings receive the products they need.

The successful candidate will have:
Highly developed analytical capabilities
An ability to build relationships and convince others to support our goals
A strong understanding of the global political contexts
A creative approach to how to secure lasting change in complex environments

Your skills and experience will be valued more than your educational background and qualifications

Diversity and Inclusion is a priority at Wellcome. We are committed to cultivating a fair and healthy environment, where everyone can be themselves and thrive. We are happy to discuss flexible working options for all roles. We work to ensure that our recruitment processes are as inclusive as possible to everyone. This includes making adjustments for people who have a disability or long-term condition. If you would like us to make adjustments during the application process, please contact us at jobs@wellcome.ac.uk.
