MI5, MI6 and GCHQ are the UK intelligence agencies working together to keep the country safe. We work to counter threats from terrorism and espionage, to cyber and sabotage. By joining our two-year Vetting Officer development programme you’ll be a part of that mission and play a vital role in keeping our country safe.

It’ll be your job to assess an individual’s suitability to hold vetting clearance. Organised and confident in making decisions, you’ll manage several cases at once – conducting interviews, assessing information, writing detailed reports and making recommendations. You’ll need to put individuals at ease and encourage open conversations to build a full picture of who they are.

It’s a complex and important role, but rest assured our development programme will help you hone the skills that you need to work independently in this role. All we ask for is a degree of life experience, a passion for learning and great people skills. In return we’ll show the rest and open up a new career path across the intelligence agencies in the vetting capability.
