StepChange Debt Charity is seeking a dynamic and creative public affairs specialist to lead our policy campaigns and influencing work. You’ll be joining the UK’s leading debt advice charity at a time when making the case for policy change to tackle problem debt and its causes is more important than ever. With millions of people struggling with problem debt, and millions more vulnerable, we need your skills, passion and determination to help us reduce the harm problem debt is causing across the UK right now.

As our Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager you will take lead responsibility for:

Managing our work with MPs and Peers in Westminster, AM’s, MLA’s, and in the devolved English regions. Along with a Senior Parliamentary and Public Affairs Officer, who you will line manage, you will build and maintain relationships, track legislation and other activity, organise briefings and events and oversee our role as the current secretariat for the All Party Parliamentary Group on debt and personal finance.

Working with colleagues across the policy, research and public affairs team, you will develop, manage and co-ordinate delivery of influencing plans to forward our public policy priorities.

Working with colleagues across the Charity you will develop and manage our ‘campaigning for change focus’, which will include overseeing the tone and content of campaign materials and strategies to involve our clients and the public ever more closely in our policy campaigns

Maintaining and develop our relationships with a range of key stakeholders, which includes developing regular thought leader content and events
