Until now, TWT’s annual 4-day festival (running alongside Labour Party Conference) and TWT’s other political education work outside of the festival have been regarded as two distinct areas of work, and the organisation’s activities have been structured accordingly. Now, in the new context, we find ourselves in, we are looking to bring these two areas together in 2020.

The purpose of TWT’s work in 2020 is to facilitate the coming together of the left in all its diversity, provide spaces in which the movement can analyse and understand the current crisis and political moment we find ourselves in, and equip activists to be able to engage in the development of ideas and strategy for how the left moves forwards and builds power over the next 1-5 years and beyond.

Simultaneously, we want to centre the urgent need for popular education rooted in people’s everyday experiences that aims to build a movement which is more conscious, critical and strategic in its thinking and actions. That means using TWT20 as an opportunity to build a network of organisers and educators working together to develop popular political education in their communities.

We are currently recruiting 2 additional coordinators to work closely with the Lead Coordinator, the TWT Steering Group, our National Organisers and the volunteer community to oversee the delivery of TWT’s work over the next 4 months - including a summer programme of digital political education as well as a festival event (which will be at least partially digital) at the end of September. The World Transformed is a grassroots project with limited resources made possible by the effort of hundreds of volunteers. Potential coordinators should be interested in working in a fast-paced, intense and exciting environment.
