BASW is recruiting to the role of Public and Political Affairs Lead. The successful candidate will:

  • Promote and develop the work of the British Association of Social Workers through effective engagement, influence and lobbying of politicians and aides within the UK Parliament and across all parties as well as working with relevant Whitehall departments.
  • Engage effectively with policy makers in government, lobby for change and campaign actively on issues that directly impact on the social work profession and our members.
  • Ensure BASW continues to have a strong voice for social work and social justice and will effectively influence, educate, advocate, challenge and campaign in the best interests of the profession and those who need and use our services.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and committed individual with relevant experience and a successful track record of driving change by lobbying and engaging authoritatively with ministers, advisers and officials in UK government.

As well as being able to demonstrate impact on policy change and experience of using policy, research, lobbying, public campaigning, media and digital work to influence a political agenda the successful candidate will provide excellent written content for internal use and external publications.
