About the role
Are you a policy and public affairs professional looking to build experience in an exciting and dynamic industry? Come and join the Federation of Master Builders’ talented team of passionate communication professionals in a vital role shaping diverse policy outcomes. From quality building and consumer protection, to a green future and skills and apprenticeships, you will be helping to improve the livelihoods of builders and the public across the UK, and building the profile and reputation of the FMB at the national and local level.
The Policy and Public Affairs Officer will work to build impactful relationships with politicians and policy makers. You will be responsible for a contact programme, influencing Parliamentary activity, and delivering consultation responses. Working across the organisation and with our members, you will help develop robust policy positions and campaign to secure political champions for our work. This role is vital in shaping a policy environment that helps our members’ businesses to thrive.
The construction industry will be instrumental in underpinning the UK’s recovery following the coronavirus pandemic. As we restart, reset and reinvest construction, we need you to help us ensure that local builders are at is heart.
About the FMB
The FMB is the largest trade association in the UK construction sector, representing 7,500 small and medium-sized building companies. For almost 80 years, the FMB has championed continuous improvement in the building industry, and for Master Builder companies to be recognised as a badge of quality.
We are an independent, not-for-profit organisation, lobbying for our members’ interests and providing services, advice, and a community to support then to grow, improve and protect their businesses.
Our members are at the forefront of some of the most topical policy and economic issues of the day. Whether it’s by training the next generation of construction workers, building the homes the country needs, or helping the UK reach net zero emissions by 2050, SME builders have a role to play and the FMB has a story to tell.
