Job Details

The Centre for Financial Crime and Security (CFCS) at RUSI is a leading authority on the intersection of finance and security. Its research aims to strengthen and transform the ways in which finance can be used to identify and disrupt a range of global threats. Since its inception five years ago, CFCS has become a central figure in the policy landscape, working with governments and the private sector to identify and tackle current and emerging challenges in the world of financial crime and threat finance.

The Research Analyst position will primarily support our project on countering-proliferation financing (CPF) and proliferation-related sanctions. Since starting this project in 2015, RUSI has been at the forefront of global policy development on CPF, by publishing standard-setting research and collaborating closely with governments, intergovernmental bodies, and financial institutions around the world. The successful applicant will be at the heart of this work, including furthering our research in this area, delivering training and technical assistance on CPF to a range of countries, and expanding the impact of our work, particularly in Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Further information about RUSI’s CPF programme can be found at https://rusi.org/projects/counter-proliferation-finance.

The successful candidate will also be involved in the Centre’s growing body of work examining the use of economic and financial sanctions in foreign policy. In May 2019, the Centre established its Task Force on the Future of UK Sanctions Policy, to provide recommendations on what UK sanctions policy should look like after Brexit, and over the next year we are hoping to expand this work further.
