The Scottish Conservatives are recruiting a new Director of Communications. This will be a vital role at a critical time in Scottish politics – with the chance to make a real difference. Responsibilities include:
• Proven track record in a senior communications
• Strong leadership and influencing skills
• Ability to inspire others and build effective team
• A strategic thinker and excellent communicator
Employed by the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party and reporting directly to the Leader and Director of the Scottish Conservative Party:
• Responsible for managing and directing the Party’s communications
• Provide the Leader with high level briefing, media and strategic advice
• A strong relationship, or the ability to build one quickly, with Scottish media
• Drafting of key media releases
• Developing a communications strategy
• Have a close working relationship with CCHQ Head of Communications
• Developing the Party’s public relations
• Giving direction for, and writing of speeches, articles and final sign-off
• Develop the key message for the Party and ensure that that message is delivered to both media and public
• Act as an interface between the Party and the media for high level strategic announcements and direction
• Liaise closely with the Shadow Cabinet and key stakeholders on Party policy
• Giving direction for candidates’ media training.
• Giving direction for Media event planning
• Developing a communications budget
• Anticipate and develop strategies to meet internal and external party needs
