As we move into a period of huge economic turbulence and uncertainty, the New Economics Foundation is looking for Director of Research & Chief Economist to drive our work and lead us as we develop innovative, radical solutions to the big challenges the UK faces. NEF has always been a pioneer of leading-edge research, big ideas and effective campaigning. We work at the interface between economic, social and environmental policy and we are looking for a Director of Research that can help us push this frontier.
Working with the Chief Executive, other Directors and our Heads of teams, you will develop a research strategy for NEF, help design and fundraise for ambitious programmes of work that can deliver impact and ensure all of our work meets a standard of rigor and excellence.
You will need a strong track record of leading research and policy development, a keen sense of how change happens and strong relationships with partners across politics, civil society, trade unions and business. And you will need a passion for economic and environmental justice and a belief that we can make change happen.
Director of Research & Chief Economist
Our Director of Research & Chief Economist leads us in developing and delivering an effective and robust research strategy. This role provides direction, oversight and critical challenge to all research projects across the organisation. This role works particularly closely with our Director of Campaigns and Engagement to ensure that the policies we create are credible and creative and ultimately have a positive impact on public policy.
As Chief Economist, this role provides thought leadership within and beyond NEF and ensures coherence across the range of areas we work on in the field of new economics. Critically, our Chief Economist provides quality assurance and oversight over research and policy development at NEF.
The Director of Research & Chief Economist is a key member of the senior management team, sharing in the strategic leadership of the organisation, leading our programme teams, and line managing heads of teams.
