This role is London based, with flexibility to work from home some of the time. (Home based currently due to covid-19.)
Electrical Safety First is the UK’s leading charity on electrical safety. We campaign to reduce deaths and injuries caused by electricity in UK homes. We do this by working closely with UK Government, devolved administrations, the electrical industry, manufacturers, retailers and consumer safety organisations to improve safety regulation and standards. We run media and digital campaigns to share advice and guidance with consumers that will help them to stay safe in their homes. We work with politicians to ensure that the UK Government and devolved administrations are doing all they can to keep people safe from electrical accidents, injuries and deaths. You will play an important part in delivering the Charity’s Westminster and devolved administration workplans.
Key Duties include: -
• Assisting with designing and implementing engagement strategies to influence the development of regulation and policy for UK Government and Devolved Administrations
• Administering the All Party Parliamentary Group on Online & Home Electrical Safety, for which Electrical Safety First provides the secretariat, working closely with the office of the Chair.
• Carrying out research and analysis to help define and support policy positions.
• Organising Parliamentary events, such as UK parliamentary receptions; Welsh Senedd events; Party Conference appearances, events with MPs in their constituency etc.
• Supporting the UK Public Affairs Manager and Scotland and Northern Ireland Public Affairs Manager and Senior Management at meetings with politicians, civil servants and government.
• Monitoring political publications and providing updates internally
