Job Details

The CRG is a new research group and parliamentary caucus established to explore issues raised by the rise of China and to develop ideas for how Britain and its allies should respond. It is led by Tom Tugendhat MP and Neil O'Brien MP, and brings together a number of leading thinkers in Parliament and beyond.

The core objectives of the CRG are as follows:

- To engage Conservative MPs and others in thinking about issues raised by the rise of China
- To provide a trustworthy source of news and informed intelligence on China issues
- To promote greater debate and new ideas about these issues within Parliament and beyond

The CRG is looking for a committed staff member to help oversee its work and build its influence in Parliament, the media and academia.

This is a full-time role working closely with senior MPs on sensitive and high profile issues. It will require careful media engagement, strong organisational skills and attention to detail, and an ability to coordinate and contribute to policy research to tight deadlines with high impact.

The successful applicant will act as the coordinator of the CRG and will oversee the three primary functions of the group:

- Hosting regular meetings of Conservative MPs to discuss the latest developments in Chinese foreign and domestic policy and the implications for the UK. These sessions would invite external speakers, including international, academic and industry representatives.
- Producing a daily newsletter on China issues, for circulation in Parliament and more widely. In particular, this will include authoritative translations of key CCP speeches and announcements, relevant international news and excerpts from research publications.
- Coordinating online, media and parliamentary awareness on specific issues, in order to build knowledge. This may include social media, polling or research papers.
