Northampton is home to the largest Enterprise Zone in the country, has recently commissioned a new Town Centre masterplan to guide the transformation of the town centre and is home to a large range of businesses across a wide range of sectors.

As part of its commitment to help Northampton meet its potential, Northampton Borough Council is strengthening its team focused on working with businesses and key stakeholders. An exciting opportunity has been created for an Economic Development Officer – Inward Investment to play a key role in helping to drive economic growth and attract investment onto the borough.

The Job: 

To deliver economic growth in Northampton and to provide a high-quality service to potential inward investors seeking to relocate to Northampton. The post holder will deal with a range of Economic Development and Inward Investment issues, advising Senior Officers and Politicians. The post will support the Council’s Economic Growth and Regeneration function to deliver the corporate ambition to improve the economy and attract new jobs and business to Northampton.

The Person:

We are seeking an individual who has experience of economic development/inward investment activity within either the private or public sector, track record of delivery and an ambition to succeed. You will have effective communication skills and an understanding of the investment and development world.

Duties will include: -

• Support the delivery and implementation of the Economic Growth Strategy
• To be the first point of contact for all potential business investment into Northampton including undertaking comprehensive land and commercial property searches.
• Build and maintain contacts with commercial property agents to understand the dynamics of the local commercial property market to support Inward Investment activity
• Work with colleagues to develop promotional and marketing packages for companies working in priority sectors to attract new businesses to Northampton.
