Job Details

5Rights Foundation campaigns to realise systemic changes to the digital world in order to ensure it caters for children and young people, by design and default. We advocate for enforceable regulation and international agreements that allow children and young people to thrive online. With engineers and policy colleagues around the world, we develop standards and protocols to help businesses reshape and redesign their digital services with children and young people in mind. Our focus is strongly oriented towards achieving real-world change, through shaping legislation, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practice.

Our policy team works across four priority areas - Design of Service, Child Online Protection, Children and Young People's Rights, and Data Literacy. Its work informs our advocacy and projects teams, as well as the senior team and our Chair. 5Rights Foundation is building its policy team and is looking for an experienced and energetic person to help drive forward our mission by developing bold, ambitious and workable ideas to shape the debate and improve the development of the online world, both in the UK and globally.

We are looking to hire an experienced policy officer/analyst with a strong record of making change and creating policy in one or more areas, namely: Data Protection/Privacy, Design of Service, Children’s Voice and Children’s Rights. You will be responsible for researching, drafting, contributing to, supporting, analysing and providing evidence for a wide range of projects, policy papers and public events. You will ensure our policy is firmly rooted in the experiences and voices of young people, working closely with colleagues in our policy, projects and external engagement teams to ensure policy informs everything we do and furthers our relationships with key stakeholders and partners. Ideal candidates will demonstrate relevant subject expertise, analytical acuity, strong communication and relationship skills. They will be ambitious, energetic, and optimistic in pursuit of solutions that build the online world that children and young people deserve. 5Rights Foundation is committed to building a diverse team. All qualified applicants will receive consideration irrespective of racial or ethnic background, opinions or beliefs, gender, sexual orientation, health or disabilities.

Closing Date: 10 August 2020

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will take place in the second half of August 2020. We would like the chosen candidate to start as soon as they possibly can, though we are mindful of notice periods.
