We are excited to be recruiting for two interns to join us this autumn for three months - one with a focus on policy and research and one with a focus on communications and engagement. We are looking for individuals with a passion for politics and a positive attitude.

In the Mayor’s Office we are incredibly proud of our team who are busy working behind the scenes to support the Mayor and Cabinet by providing high quality policy, communications and administrative support to deliver the best possible outcomes for Bristol. We put the Mayor’s priorities and core values at the heart of all we do.

In the role of Policy Intern, you will use strong research skills and knowledge of the Mayor’s aims and priorities, to support the Mayor and Cabinet via our Policy Advisors. You’ll help draft speeches, keep the Mayor up to date with important issues affecting the city, conduct research to inform policy decisions and draft correspondence on behalf of the Mayor. In order to succeed in this role, you will have strong verbal and written skills, a sharp eye for detail and be discreet, as you will be handling sensitive information. You should be happy working on your own initiative or as part of a team.

In the role of Communications and Engagement Intern, you will help the Mayor to engage with residents through his social media platforms, coordinating blog posts and drafting correspondence on behalf of the Mayor. You will also support mayoral events and engagement programmes with businesses, communities and schools across Bristol. In order to succeed in this role, you will have strong verbal and written skills and confidence with drafting social media content.

To hit the ground running in these roles, you will ideally have a good knowledge of Bristol’s political landscape and an understanding of the Mayor’s priorities.

If you think you could be the perfect addition to our team we’d love to receive your application.

You are welcome to apply for just one or both of the roles.
