Are you a capable aspiring researcher? Do you have a keen interest in public policy and experience with issues around Brexit, trade, the NHS or public health? If so, come and help us run this important project on the impact of Brexit and trade deals on health in the UK.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is ready to take the next step in their career as a policy or research professional in the fields of international trade or health. This excellent opportunity will give you wide experience across many different tasks, exposure to key decision-makers, and the opportunity to contribute to a major publication.

You will be part of a team working with researchers from the Nuffield Trust, Sheffield University and Oxford University to deliver on this project commissioned by the Health Foundation. The aim is to lay the groundwork for an initiative that monitors the impact of Brexit into the future, and to flag up key issues in a report published at the end of the year.

You’ll spend your time:

• Interviewing business leaders, experts, officials from across the UK, and NHS and social care leaders; and interpreting and writing up the results for publication.
• Working with communications and events professionals to co-ordinate policy roundtables to gather intelligence on different issues.
• Reading UK, NHS and EU policy papers and academic literature to understand legal, trade and policy issues; and summarising and drawing on these to write up different outputs.
• Bringing together datasets of key indicators which may show how Brexit and trade policy influence health, analysing these for trends and patterns, keeping them updated, and working out their limitations.
• Organising regular meetings and update sessions between the project leads and, where relevant, the Health Foundation. Setting agendas and providing updates to the funder on progress.

We’d really like to meet you if you have:

• A good undergraduate degree.
• A relevant postgraduate degree (this requirement may be waived for a candidate with extensive professional experience in a similar role).
• Experience of research and analysis using quantitative data, including experience using Excel.
• Excellent writing skills and attention to detail.
• Good time management skills and an ability to work under pressure on multiple different tasks at the same time.
