This role is full time with the option for part time or job sharing.

We are looking for someone who is quick to learn and passionate about halting climate change to support Hope for the Future’s lobbying work. If you’re the right person for the role, you’ll believe in the potential of political engagement to address one of the world’s greatest challenges, and you’ll have a desire to advance your own expertise in putting this into practice.

The successful candidate will receive full training in Hope for the Future’s lobbying approach.

Roles and responsibilities

As Lobbying Assistant, you’ll work with the Hope for the Future team to:

  • Act as a point of contact for constituents and provide support to them in engaging their elected representatives
  • Assist with the preparation for and delivery of Hope for the Future’s lobbying training
  • Assist in researching MPs, local councillors and other key figures in preparation for lobbying meetings
  • Assist with the ongoing development of Hope for the Future’s lobbying training
  • Write new blogs and website content
  • Provide support to the project leads where required in both organising and delivery
  • Uphold a culture that promotes equality and values diversity and considers how power and privilege affects the work that we do and how we can do better.

Person Specification

We seek someone with the following areas of expertise:
Essential

  • A highly organised, self-motivated individual
  • Comfortable working independently and within a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good working knowledge of UK politics
  • A good understanding of climate change, and a commitment to mitigating its impacts.

Desirable

  • Previous campaigning experience
  • Previous experience in teaching and/ or delivering training and workshops
  • Previous experience working with politicians
  • An understanding of Monitoring and Evaluation

Longlisted applicants will be asked to complete a task before shortlisting for interview.

Interviews will be held w/c 7th September.
