This is a fixed term vacancy (6 months to January 2021) to backfill someone who has been recruited into a fixed term post

A key member of the External Affairs team, this is an essential and highly visible role within the Communications Directorate.

The role is to work as part of a high profile team in delivering an effective and comprehensive stakeholder relations and public affairs service supporting managers and staff across NHS England and NHS Improvement.

The role will help the organisation build excellent strategic and operational working relationships with key stakeholders in health and care, Government and Westminster, ensuring that all engagement is co-ordinated, focused and effective in conveying key corporate messages as well as advising senior NHS England and NHS Improvement managers on how information is likely to affect our organisational reputation.

The ideal candidate will have an excellent understanding of the health and care landscape and the key organisations working within it. They will understand the role and remit of NHS England and NHS Improvement, and its vision for the NHS. The ideal candidate will also have an excellent understanding of current affairs, have a keen news sense and understand the work of Parliament and the local, regional and national political landscape.

Key accountabilities include supporting the stakeholder engagement team on programme portfolio areas and the media team on high profile announcements. The post holder will represent the organisation at relevant meetings and events, and provide monitoring support and written briefing ahead of MP meetings, MP briefings and Select Committees appearances. The post holder will also work across the organization to plan and support the organisation’s representation at external events
