Job Details

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the National Pig Association as a Senior Policy Advisor to help make a real difference in shaping the future of the UK pig industry at this critical time.

We are looking for a passionate and confident individual able to represent British pig producers in Westminster and with processors, foodservice and retailers, and to the media.

The role will put the successful candidate at the heart of fast-moving representational politics at a time of unprecedented change for this iconic sector.

You will be part of a team known across the livestock industry for its ability to punch above its weight and to go ‘above and beyond’ in support of its members.

Being part of this small but highly motivated team means you will be guaranteed variety and responsibility in the role, but with the full support of the team in areas where you may not currently have experience.

You will be responsible for parliamentary liaison as well as a range of policy areas largely related to EU exit and trade. You will also have a good reputation for effective influencing and developing relevant connections with civil servants, MPs, Peers and other organisations.

You will put your own stamp on the job and make a difference. It will be challenging but highly rewarding. You will be able to think innovatively about how to communicate the role of the UK pig industry in an efficient and effective manner.

Knowledge of the UK pig industry would be advantageous but not essential, above all, we are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual, with strong communication skills and an ability to grasp new policy areas quickly. Experience of working with MPs, lobbying or within Parliament would be desirable.

The salary will be competitive and dependent upon experience. The role will come with a number of benefits including flexible working, the option to be home based, company pension, car loan scheme and generous holiday entitlement.

The National Pig Association is the representative trade association for British commercial pig producers. It is affiliated to the National Farmers Union (NFU) and represents the interests of NFU members that produce pigs and the pig industry interests of its Allied Industry members.

Closing Date: 25 September 2020
