Inform: brief businesses on economic developments, policy changes and best practice
Engage: influence stakeholders and act on our members’ behalf

This is a great opportunity to join the GBCC as a member of the Policy and Strategic Relationships Team. The role is co-funded by the Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce (CWCC). The successful candidate will lead the development, launch and evaluation of a new project on the role of businesses in environmental sustainability across the two Chambers of Commerce. They will also support the GBCC policy team in delivering ongoing research and engagement activity.

This is an ideal role for an individual looking to develop a career in policy, campaigns or research. The successful candidate will be able to handle a varied and demanding workload with drive and enthusiasm. They will demonstrate an excellent standard of communication skills, learn quickly and have a genuine interest in the subject area and/or supporting local businesses. Experience of the regional policy environment and/or relevant policy areas is desirable, but not essential. Data analysis skills, experience using SPSS (or other statistics software) and education to a degree level are desirable, but not essential. Chambers of Commerce are independent organisations primarily funded through commercial revenue – a commercial mind set with regards to identifying opportunities for sponsorship and funding is desirable.

Due to COVID-19 this role will require a mix of remote and in-office working. This role will initially be on a one year fixed terms basis.

Responsibilities of the role

• To lead the GBCC and CWCC’s activity on the role of businesses in the environmental sustainability agenda, to include: research on the national and local policy context, stakeholder mapping and engagement, design, delivery and evaluation of campaigns encompassing key lobbying messages for stakeholders and engaging local businesses (primarily SMEs) in understanding best practice.
• To support the GBCC policy team by undertaking research, analysis and administrative tasks.
