About the Role

Do you take pride in your work and have an excellent professional attitude? We are looking for a External Affairs Officer to work with the Policy and Public Affairs team and the wider Engagement Directorate. We need someone with a common sense approach who can work in a fast-paced environment. This would suit someone who is interested in moving into external and public affairs as a career – importantly we need someone who is curious about the society we live in and passionate about the work The National Lottery Community Fund does.

You value well written, concise audience-focused content and are willing to spend time and effort on doing the research to really understand an issue or topic and then crafting the right message. You need to be good with tight deadlines and able to work well and confidently with colleagues.

We are at an exciting stage in further developing the Fund’s policy agenda. Working with the External Affairs Manager, you will be first point of contact to support regional colleagues in engaging with political stakeholders, run events (virtually and in person) for the varied and wide ranging audience to help to shine a light on the learning from our grant holders and support the drafting of correspondence for stakeholders. You will be working in our engagement directorate and have the opportunity to work on wide ranging project groups with colleagues from across the organisation.

We are at an exciting stage in further developing the Funds external-facing agenda – and this role will be at the heart of a dynamic team who will use the learning and insight from the projects we fund and share that with influential stakeholders.

Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37 Hours per week, flexible working considered

Essential Criteria

• Knowledge of public, current and political affairs.
• Experience of event delivery or supporting events.
• Ability to produce comprehensive and concise written information.

Desirable Criteria

• Ability to build internal and external relationships.
• Ability to work independently and as part of the team.
• Experience of engaging with politicians.
