Job Details

NEF are looking for a highly skilled and talented individual to join the economic policy team as an Assistant Researcher. NEF’s work sits at the intersection of environmental, economic and social policy and this role represents a fantastic opportunity to contribute to economic research and policy making at a pivotal moment in UK political life.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in, and aptitude for, a range of topics across economic policy, including for example macroeconomics, public investment and tax. This exciting role will involve contributing to highly impactful research in a fast paced environment, and it will require the interest and ability to develop rigorous quantitative research techniques, with support from colleagues.

Above all else, however, NEF are looking for someone who is able to bring huge energy, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn on the job, as well as someone who is committed to our mission of ensuring that the economy is working in service of society and the environment as we Build Back Better from Covid-19.

Assistant researchers in the economist track at NEF require good knowledge of at least one key economic policy area in the UK. They use their strong economic and quantitative research skills and the ability to work effectively as a team to develop high quality research and economic analysis for the organisation and take responsibility for discrete elements of work within projects. Assistant researchers are also able to link research to key contemporary debates and communicate complicated ideas clearly to a variety of audiences, internally and externally. This role will provide research assistance and project support across a number of programmes within NEF’s economy team, and where necessary, support projects across other thematic areas at NEF as well.

Location: flexible. We encourage applicants from outside of London and the South East but requiring occasional travel to our London offices.
