Ruth Edwards MP is looking to recruit a constituency assistant to help with her Parliamentary work and digital content. This is a good opportunity to take a first step into working in the political environment, however we are looking for someone with experience of creating online content to help with promoting Ruth’s campaigns and activities.

The successful candidate will be based in the constituency and will assist with video editing, updating and creating social media content, such as posts and graphics, in addition to maintaining the MP’s website.

This is a unique role which will allow the successful applicant to use their creative flare and talents to assist in communicating with members of the public across various online platforms.
In addition to supporting the MP, the role will also assist the MP’s Parliamentary Assistants and Office Manager through helping with campaign and policy correspondence as well as contributing towards the smooth running of the office, ensuring that constituent enquires are recorded and responded to correctly, in line with GDPR.

Job role:

• Video editing, creating graphics and post for social media.
• Assisting with maintaining the Member's communication channels – including website, video and social media.
• Planning and promoting activities, events and campaigns in the constituency
• Producing regular constituency communications
• Monitoring media coverage, liaising with local media and assisting with press releases
• Providing overall administrative support to the office and team
• Assisting with responding to campaign and policy emails
• Retaining records and information confidentially and in line with GDPR

Person Specification:

• Interest in politics and sympathy for the policies and approach of the Conservative Party.
• Background and experience with video editing, website editing, graphics creation on illustrator (or similar design software) and running social media accounts.
• Willingness to learn, flexible in approach and open to new ideas.
• Polite and respectful manner, the role will involve some interaction with constituents.
• Articulate with a good written style.
• Appreciation of the importance of good record keeping and clear communication.
• Trustworthy, reliable and motivated to work independently
