At MI5 and MI6 we have different focuses, but we have the same mission - to keep the UK safe. MI5 is responsible for protecting the UK from threats to national security, while MI6 focuses on threats emanating from overseas and promotes the UK’s prosperity. It takes all sorts of people to protect the UK, which is why we’re both running a summer diversity internship. Depending on the agency you choose, you’ll have a slightly different experience. But one thing will remain the same – how valued you’ll be, and the huge impact you’ll have.

You’ll enjoy a summer of discovery and responsibility, where your perspectives and opinions will really matter. Over 11 weeks, you’ll either help MI5 to investigate and disrupt international terrorism or contribute to MI6’s core missions. In both cases, it’s a chance to gain a really unique insight and build your confidence. And, as your internship comes to a close, you’ll have the chance to apply for a permanent role with your chosen agency to start in autumn 2022.

So, who are we looking for? You’ll need to be in your penultimate year of Uni, and from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic background, and from a socially or economically disadvantaged background.
